In July I started seeing results from working out, and finally started to see what people really meant when they said that it feels good to work out. I kept flexing my calf muscles and staring with wonder at the bulges of strength. I kept being too small for clothes and weighing in at smaller weights and kind of just going, “huh. cool!”
Sometimes? I would even NOT WEAR A BRAR
It was hot as a sonofabitch, but MM and I were out doing activities with our new mom group, and when we weren’t doing that, we were doing fun stuff at home.
Like Pudding Finger Painting:
Which I love because I loved messes when I was a kid. Hubs has a really hard time letting MM get messy, but I usually let him go nuts and just toss him in the bath and call it good. Then again, while I was playing with home-made salt dough as a kid, Hubs was getting yelled at for spilling water.
And this mini train, which was hella awesome and we should have gone on it every chance we could:
See that thing he’s doing with his fingers? He did that ALL THE TIME for a few months. I found it very amusing and adorable, especially when he couldn’t get his fingers to match up.
Still very clingy:
And starting to become demanding:
This started happening, and got a lot worse until even on the occasions when I wanted to wear my wedding ring I could not because I had weeping blisters on my finger. I’ve become allergic to it and haven’t worn it since.
In August, MM got to be closer friends with all the kitties:
Hubs had a birthday, and if I remember right we didn’t do much because we were in the bile-filled anger fest cycle of fighting, but I got him a custom puzzle and a professional photography shoot:
And made a cake based on an iphone game he did the art for:
MM experienced his first midwest thunderstorm and loved every moment:
The baby dude’s personality started just busting out everywhere, with many hilarious pictures:
That’s a stick of cheese, my sunglasses, and a diaper. Isn’t he SKINNY?
Trying to describe in toddlerese why he should not have to clean up the marbles he had strewn about, while wearing two different socks from daddy’s sock drawer:
And then he turned 2, which I’ll post on next after I turn on Sesame Street.

Dang, your kid is adorable.
Love the last picture with MM chattering away in toddlerese. Love it!
It is good to hear from you. Just yesterday I was thinking of you.
He is so tall and skinny now! Like a BOY. (No more chunky baby legs!) His expression in that last photo is awesome. I love how he’s using his hands for emphasis. And the different-colored socks!
You are so pretty! And I envy your weight loss success and all the messes you don’t mind. I’m not motivated or patient enough for either weight loss or messes.
Little dude is such the fashion statement – love it!
Yay!!! SOOOO excited for a new blog post! Been thinking about you a lot lately! MM is just too cute for words. I love this stage (my daughter is 2 as well); it’s frustrating, but I also don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard or wanted to just die from cuteness.
Nice to see you! And by the pool! I miss the pool.
(Did I really just say that? I lied. I think I might like the pool in a few years when small people can pull on and off their own damn wet bathing suits and don’t require my constant hovering to insure their survival.)
And your boy, he is LUMINOUS.
Oh, yay! I’ve been hoping you’d post again. Looks like you had as much fun as we did this summer. My gosh I miss summer so badly….
Also, I am way too impatient about messes, even though I was not raised to be like that. Must be a latent gene.
Paint the inside of your ring with clear nail polish and then you can still wear it. You will, however, have to repaint it about once a month or so. I have to do it to my glasses…
